Creating A Coffee Shop Experience On College Campuses
College students must do it all when balancing work, life, and studies. To have the ability to keep a steady pace, college students end up drinking coffee or other caffeinated beverages to get through their day-to-day life.
When it comes to serving coffee to these students, the best place is on campus. Coffee on college campuses can make things more convenient and allow them to be on campus for as long as they need.
College Students & Coffee - Current Stats
Coffee is the preferred caffeinated drink among all college students to maintain a steady workflow. Students will also turn to coffee as an aid to stay awake. That is why almost 74 percent of college students drink coffee in the morning, while 92 percent of students consume caffeine throughout the day. On average, a student may drink more than 2 cups of coffee a day.
How Colleges and Universities are Adjusting
About 90 percent of students eat off campus at least once a week. This is mainly because their school may not have all the options they are looking for.
When it comes to keeping up with food trends, many college campuses are attempting to follow the trends. This may be by making mobile orders possible along with opening up a large number of different food options on campus.
Some universities, like Providence College, are also creating self-service dining halls where a student gathers the ingredients needed to make a meal of their own.
Introduction to the Concordia Brand
Established in 1989, Concordia is the inventor of the super-automatic espresso machine. This machine grinds the coffee and espresso and immediately brews it, rather than having a barista measure the beans, grind them, and then pull the espresso shots.
Concordia Machine Options
Most college campuses have coffee in their dining halls, libraries, or even kiosks. However, serving the coffee will normally require a trained barista. Instead, each Concordia machine is an automatic machine that makes coffee and espresso drinks without a trained barista.
Xpress Touch
The Concordia Xpress Touch is a one-touch machine that immediately serves espresso from the bean and into the cup. It can make cappuccinos, mochas, and lattes in under 25 seconds and is easy for anyone to use.
Ascent Touch
Designed to create fresh black coffee immediately from the beans, the Concordia Ascent Touch does just that. The machine simply makes coffee within 30 seconds. While it does not serve lattes or cappuccinos, the coffee can be brewed while also meeting the Specialty Coffee Associations ‘Gold Cup’ standard.
Xpress
The Concordia Xpress is a completely self-serviced automatic espresso machine. It has a complete menu of espresso drinks along with lattes and 6 different syrup flavors. You can also add a steaming wand if a barista is attending the machine to customize the drinks further. The Xpress is also able to process credit card or debit card payments along with university I.D.s for students. Making it easier for students to get a caffeine shot without having to wait in line and without additional labor.
